How to Get to Prague by Train
The most direct train route to Prague from the UK is via Brussels and Cologne. This route starts at London's St Pancras station where there is a EuroStar service to Brussels that departs every 2 or 3 hours. From Brussels there are a number of high speed trains available to Cologne from InterCity Express (ICE), TVG (a French company) and Thalys. The City Night Line overnight train service is also available. Czech Transport also offer trains to Prague from some German cities including Munich and Berlin. It is also possible to take the EuroStar to Paris and then use one of the high speed train services to get to Germany before traveling on to Prague.
Prague
Once the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia and home to the Holy Roman Emperor it's no wonder Prague has become Europe's 6th most visited tourist destination since the fall of the iron curtain. The city of Prague has some of Europe's most spectacular architecture. The Old Town and Lesser Town areas are something of a living museum. At the heart of the city is the Prague Castle complex. Believed to have been founded in the 9th Century AD the 70,000 metre square castle is the largest in the world and a registered World Heritage site. The picture gallery boasts works by some of Europe's master painters including Titian and Rubens. The Charles Bridge is another very popular attraction in Prague, famed for its saintly statues. The cross dedicated to the Czech Saint, Jan Nepomuk, is particularly popular with locals as touching it is believed to bring good luck.
