Overview of Amtrak
Amtrak, established in 1970, is a state-owned national rail operator connecting over 500 cities across 46 states in the United States, spanning 21,000 route miles. Operating around 300 services daily, it stands as one of the most popular train companies in the U.S and is a trusted partner of Omio.
Amtrak offers a greener way to travel across the United States, providing connections to major hubs such as Chicago, Boston, New York and Washington, D.C., meaning you can really explore the United States without worrying about switching providers or modes of transport. The company also extends its reach to major Canadian cities like Calgary, Montreal and Quebec via Amtrak Canada connections.
Key advantages include amenities like air conditioning, seat reservations and a generous luggage allowance, ensuring a comfortable journey for passengers. With Omio’s trip planning tools and various Amtrak deals and discounts, North America and Canada are yours to explore.
- Standard Class: Amtrak offers Saver and Value fares, which provide flexibility for changes or refunds, though penalties may apply closer to departure. All trains provide basic amenities like air conditioning and seat reservations.
- First/Premium Class: Business fares offer travel in dedicated coaches. For the most luxurious experience, Acela First Class is available on the Northeast Corridor.
- Wi-Fi & Amenities: Every Amtrak train includes air conditioning, seat reservations, and a generous luggage allowance. Passengers can also take advantage of onboard dining and Omio’s mobile app features for checking train status and eTicket scanning.
